BEFORE YOU BEGIN:
Make curl water. Making curl water is easy. Start with a water filled spray bottle, (you can find one of these on amazon or at the dollar store) then add 1 tablespoon of STEP 1 CURL WATER CONCENTRATE AND LEAVE IN CONDITIONER” per 8 oz of water to your bottle and shake until combined. Shake vigorously and often to keep combined before using. Start with clean wet or dry hair. Dry hair is best. DO NOT USE HAIR CONDITIONER.
STEP 1. CURL WATER CONCENTRATE and LEAVE IN CONDITIONER
Completely saturate your hair with "CURL WATER" from the spray bottle. Make sure that there are no dry spots. After hair is completely moist (but not dripping), add STEP 1 "CURL WATER CONCENTRATE AND LEAVE IN CONDITIONER" directly to your hair. This means open the STEP 1 jar, and apply the product directly to your hair. Make sure that your hair is coated from roots to tips. Use enough product to cover your head without any excess product dripping off. Comb product through your hair to evenly distribute throughout your hair.
STEP 2. CURL CAPTURE
Rub "CURL CAPTURE" into hands to warm the product and make it smooth. Product will be stiff. Apply product to hair liberally. Make sure to completely cover all hair from root to tip. Use a lot. Use a blow dryer to heat the product and melt the stiff product on to your hair. The heat from the dryer will make the product thin and easy to distribute. Comb or brush hair to evenly distribute the product throughout your hair. Be sure to use a lot. Don’t miss a spot.
STEP 3. CURL LOCK
Apply "CURL LOCK" gel to your hair. Be sure to use a lot. Cover your hair with the "CURL LOCK" product from roots to tips. Don’t miss a spot. Apply additional "curl lock" to frizzy roots or ends as needed. After completely coated (generously) dry hair with a blow dryer or allow hair to air dry. Stretch hair with Lit Curls Anti shrinkage curl weights to avoid shrinkage. Hair shrinkage can also be avoided by drying hair with a blow dryer and holding hair taunt while doing so.
Don’t manipulate or “open” curls while drying. IF YOU OPEN YOUR CURLS THEY WILL DRY BUSHY.
Don’t style hair until hair is completely dry.
Be sure to use a lot of the product on your hair. (All three steps)
Start with clean wet or dry hair.
Touch up hair daily (keep it looking fresh and new) with all three steps
YOU MUST DO ALL THREE STEPS AS DIRECTED FOR GOOD SUCCESS!
DAILY MAINTENANCE APPLICATIONS
First things first... make sure you wear a scarf/bonnet or Lit Curls Curl keeper at night. The Lit Curls product is a little greasy & messy. (not like a jerri curl but you can feel the product on your hair when you first do it) You need to keep your hair covered so that you won't ruin your pillow case. Keep your hair protected from breakage while sleeping. When you wake up, remove your scarf and shake your hair a little and let your hair relax itself from being cooped up in a bonnet or scarf. Do this before styling.
Do not apply step 1 directly to your hair when doing maintenance.
We will only be using the "Curl Water" which is step one mixed with water into a spray bottle.
Here is what to do daily:
KEY IDEA...you are adding a little bit of product to your hair daily just to keep it fresh looking.
The key product that you will use daily to maintain your Lit Curls hair style is your Lit Curls "Curl Water" spray bottle.
*Start by LIGHTLY misting your hair with the “Curl Water” that you made with the spray bottle. Mist your hair LIGHTLY, do not wet your whole head. A light mist will re-activate the product in your hair. Smooth your hair with your hands, (do not brush or comb) to work the light mist of the curl water into your hair. This will soften your hair to prepare it for the small amount of additional product you will add. Fluff and finger comb your hair if necessary.
*If you wish to change the style or look of your hair style completely, first mist your hair completely with the "Lit Curls Curl Water" spray bottle. Be sure to completely wet your hair, change the style, or parting, that you desire. You will likely have to add more step 2 & 3 to control your hair in the new curly style that you are creating.
*If your hair is a LITTLE dry when you wake up; and you think it needs a little moisture, Identify the dry areas (for me it’s the ends but sometimes the whole thing) add a little "Curl Capture" (step two). Massage a little bit of step two into the dry areas of your hair. Finger comb your hair if necessary.
*If your hair is a LITTLE bushy when you wake up; Identify the bushy areas, then add a little "Curl Lock" (step three) to control the untamed bushy areas.
